The End

The Fillies had an incredibly successful first year. An overall record of 8-2 and a league record of 6-2. We made it to the playoffs but lost to Las Vegas in the first round. There were a lot of ups and downs and a lot of struggles but we've made it.

For me, my time as a football player has come to an end. My knee specialist told me this morning that I have to find a low impact sport from here on out. My knees are basically falling apart and there isn't much that can be done. The cartilage is coming off my bone. If I continue with the pounding that football takes, it would only be a matter of time before I would need total knee replacement.

So, this is the end of my blog, as well. I'm off to try and survive this blow, among some others that life has thrown my way, and figure out where to go from here.

Thanks for reading.

Back In The Game

I've gradually been getting back in the game since the knee was sprained. This past Saturday's game was the most I've played in a game so far. We switched out players a lot due to the altitude we were playing in. Salt Lake City is close to 5,000 feet in altitude. Trying to breathe in that is difficult if you're not used to it.

I played on the kick-off return team, punt team, right tackle on offense a few times, left tackle on offense once and center twice. It felt good to be in the game and playing again. I was pretty exhausted due to driving all night Friday night just to get there, but I managed to get my very first career stat with a tackle after a punt.

It was a pretty exhausting weekend with all of the traveling but it was also good.

My team is 4-0 right now and after last weekend we've got a playoff spot and the division title. How cool is that for a first year team?

Last Saturday's Game

I didn't make the trip but my team overcome a lot through the game with Fresno and came out the victors. The final score was 26 to 21. The Fillies are 1-0 in the league and 2-0 in the season!

I'm so proud of them.
My team and I were on Good Day Oregon this morning in their "On The Go With Joe" segments!

Watch one of the segments!

You can't really see me in this clip but I suited up for the first time in 5 weeks. It felt pretty damn good, too.
